Tyler's Bio
Tyler Yarbrough is a senior at Northwestern University studying Journalism and African American Studies. She is the co-creator and Editor Emeritus of Northwestern's Voice & Vision Literary Magazine. Her work has appeared in the Kansas City Star and Northwestern's Protest Magazine. However, she admits that her writing takes a backseat to her political and social activism. In 2007, Tyler established Project Uplift, an after-school program for "at risk" (she hates that phrase) middle school aged boys who need academic tutoring and emotional support. Throughout the week, you can find her compiling resources for Chicago youth and assisting with the day-to-day functioning of the Chicago Freedom School, Center for Social Justice.
When she's not busy trying to save the world, Tyler goes to the movies about eight times a month. But her obsession with the silver screen doesn't stop there. She enjoys watching movies on Netflix Instant Browse (in the comfort of her home), playing "Scene It," the movie trivia game and discussing films with her friends. She boasts having the greatest film collection—ever. When she is 50 years old, she wants to be Roger Ebert.
