Patrice's Bio
Patrice Poltzer is a graduate student at Northwestern's Medill school of Journalism and a life-long native of Chicago. While some may find it weird that she has anxiety about turning 30 – which is not old- those who know her remember when she cried on her fourteenth birthday because she was upset about “ the passage of time.” Weird? Perhaps.
She is a freelance writer with a concentration in broadcast and multimedia journalism. She used to host an entertainment show called, "Nude Hippo: Your Chicago Show" and yes, she realizes that is a really strange name.
Her luck is sometimes questionable so as fate would have it, NBC partnered with the show after she left and she is not bitter about that at all. She still works for a PR firm on the side, but tries to keep that from some of her fellow journalists who might condemn her as coming "from the dark side."
Patrice also does freelance production work for Bader-TV that includes anything from interviewing celebrities at a premiere to making sure she has the Starbucks orders in line. It is the only job where she discovered that even Christopher Knight has an entourage.
She went to the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has decided that if journalism doesn't work out, she is going to be a SOAR campus tour guide. She really loves that school. She is a movie buff who thinks Roger Ebert is the Messiah Himself, loves to try new restaurants, books and travel destinations, and may be the only person who required her 20-year-old brother to write an essay on "Kite Runner" before he got his real birthday gift…the new X-Box 360.
Her brother might say she is evil.
Any suggestions on fun places to try in her noble countdown are always welcome!
