Fans of new car smell will take precious little joy in a tour of the Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation’s synagogue in Evanston.

The building was carefully planned to exclude as much of volatile organic compounds and formaldehyde adhesives – some of the substances that give “new” its smell – as possible.

Wilmette residents are not all breathing easy as work nears its fifth month on the $20 million Sheridan Road Reconstruction Project.

Dust stirred up by the roadwork not only coats windows and cars but clouds the air for residents and construction workers to inhale — which over an extended period of time could seriously impact respiratory health.

Terri always felt insecure about her acne before starting light therapy treatments.

"It's embarrassing to have breakouts on your back, it's very frustrating," she said. "It's one of the things I am most self-conscious about."  

Terri, who didn't want her last name used, had dealt with acne problems since she was 16. She tried different topical treatments and chemical peels, but the acne always reappeared.
