Musician and actor Issac Hayes died at a Memphis hospital after collapsing earlier near his home treadmill. He was 65. Hayes was one of the architects of the soul movement of the 1970s on the Stax Records label and best known for winning two Grammys for his "Theme from Shaft." Hayes was known for promoting black consciousness wth his lyrics, wardrobe and bald appearace. In the 1980s, Hayes helped usher in the disco sound and in the 1990s voiced the character "Chef" on the animated show "South Park."
