What's interesting in Chicago today?

Windy Citizen is a social news network covering Chicago life, politics, news and business.

How it works
1. Post a Chicago link.
2. Watch as people vote up, click on, and discuss it and our network writes about it.
3. The best links make the front page and are delivered via daily e-mail, rss, twitter and more.

We here at the Windy Citizen believe in the importance of the weekend. These precious forty-eight hours should be embraced and worshipped. Waking up should be a dragged out, day-long process and going to sleep should happen only once a certain fun threshold has been crossed. In short, life should just be easier. With that in mind, we've put together The Weekender, our look back on the week's biggest news. Now even keeping informed is almost as easy as staying in bed.

On Monday, Chaya Harris took an in-depth look at Chicago's farmers markets, examining the problems the markets face with a long, detailed article as well as a video (which features enough shots of fresh vegetables that I almost feel tempted to wake up early this weekend to buy some. Almost.)

Tuesday was an important day for music-lovers, as Lollapalooza announced the gargantuan line-up for their three-day festival in August. Now the question is, Wilco or Rage Against the Machine? You've got some time to decide.

Wednesday marked the start of a new blog from Windy Citizen headquarters -- "Nearly Next Year," Matt Paolelli's examination of the Chicago Cubs. His first piece focused on the fans, offering a few guidelines to improve morale for a team with a history of, well, losing.

Thursday was National Dump the Pump Day, where people were encouraged to look on the bright side of higher gas prices -- riding the CTA is suddenly the more efficient alternative!

And today we bring you the latest Chicago buzz -- the increasing hype behind the upcoming Cubs-Sox series. Chicago Sports's Rick Morrissey calls it "borderline insanity." We call it awesome.
